I really want to be able to give, but I don’t think I have enough to give. What can I do?
I’ve been there. I had this poverty mentality before. And you know what, this way of thinking creeps into many other people who in fact have so much resources in their hands. It’s not that you or I then, are being selfish. Like what you already said, you really want to be able to give. It’s really just about understanding what we are able and willing to give.
So, how do you know what you are really able and willing to give? The most effective and revealing way to know this is through an exercise that my family and I have been doing and it’s the “Personal Inventory Taking”. What is Personal Inventory Taking? It’s the process of taking into account all that you have, so you can more knowledgeably assess what you are able and will be willing to give away. And we’re not just talking about money here. These resources include your skills and knowledge that you can volunteer to organizations. They can also be your circle of influence that, if you tap into, can unbox so many helpful connections for those groups or people that just need to be connected to those who can supply the need. It can be things that you think no one will ever need anymore. Think of any business. That business takes accounting of everything it has so it knows what it can sell, what it can use to grow its business. And we should be doing that too for the things that we own, for the purpose of knowing what we are able and willing to give. So, how do you do this exercise. Well, we have a worksheet and an accompanying video that we can share with you. Simple DM our Instagram account, or Message our Facebook page, and ask for the “Personal Inventory Worksheet”. Then we’ll send it to you. Have a good day! Read other related blog posts |
