Internship with Giving is Social
THE GOAL OF THE INTERN:To receive hands-on training on nonprofit or/and social entrepreneurship work through project creation or management. |
THE GOAL OF GIVING IS SOCIAL (GIS)To drive projects within the organization through the hours put in by the Intern. |
The internship is not paid for except for directly monetizable projects (see below). Think of it as a focused and highly guided volunteer work. Both parties can agree on hours-per-week and length of time of internship. For best results, 8 to 10 hours a week for three months can result in tangible project outputs for GIS, and relevant learning for the Intern.
|
The Intern can choose from any of the projects that he/she would like to manage/create. Tools, resources, and coaching will be provided.
A PLAYBOOK OF FUNDRAISING EVENTS.
A list of 15 to 20 unique event ideas people can organize to raise funds for their chosen cause or beneficiary. Each event has to be comprehensively described: What are the essentials? Who’s the target audience? How can it be set up? Etc.

ONLINE MARKETPLACE OF GOOD GOODS.
Intern can name this in a more clever way. Goal is to launch an online ecommerce page on the Giving is Social website featuring products created by its nonprofit/social enterprise partners (check this out) and digital creators who are willing to sell their goods and contribute at least 20% of their profits to a beneficiary.
Product vendors earn a premium profit margin they wouldn’t otherwise earn from their traditional distribution channels. Giving is Social earns between 7 to 12% of sales to cover administration and advertising costs. As this is a directly monetizable project. Intern will be paid SGD450 for the project management efforts if contribution includes successful:
Project allowance will be in staggered payment after delivery of milestones. Human resources will be provided for the actual web design, and complicated content writing. Skills & knowledge needed:

A VIRTUAL GALA FOR THE BENEFIT OF IJM SINGAPORE
A fundraising event online involving high-net-worth individuals in Singapore who are keen to support IJM’s work against online sexual exploitation of children. Don’t worry about the invitees. We have them. We just need someone who will organize the event.
Event management efforts will include creating a project management plan, coordinating with resources speakers (global), planning the communication pieces to invite guests, preparing the collaterals for the event (with the help of our designer), overseeing the progress of the project, and everything else involved in the project. We have done over 50+ fundraising events in the past (check them out here), so there will not be a lack of guidance and resources. Skills & knowledge needed:

GIVING IS SOCIAL'S THE GIVING JOURNAL.
We plan to release a Giving Journal before the end of 2020. Intern will project manage this—from building a group of content volunteers (who will suggest what will go into the journal), working with designers and printers, planning and coordinating with distribution channels, to proposing a content marketing strategy.
20% of the proceeds of the book will go to our selected nonprofit group. As this is a directly monetizable project, Intern will be paid SGD450 for the project management efforts. Project allowance will be in staggered payment after delivery of milestones. Skills & knowledge needed:

A FUND AND AWARENESS RAISING CAMPAIGN FOR SOCIAL WORKERS.
realize the sad state of social work globally—poorly compensated workers with long hours and lack of emotional and mental health support. They drive life-changing projects, but there is very little that they gain from their work.
An online campaign showing the realities of social workers’ struggles and challenges, and the lack thereof of qualified social workers hopefully will get people to put their donations to benefit social work. It can even be a mini-documentary! The sky’s the limit. Any profit raised from this campaign can be “won” by a high-impact nonprofit group who can provide an effective plan for the use of the money–potentially for the hiring of caseworkers for orphaned or abused children.
